As someone solo traveling across the globe for over 20 years, visiting almost 50 countries, across six continents, I approach every destination through firsthand experience, and of course, Barbados is no exception to that. Barbados isn’t just about the amazing beaches, restaurants, and activities, it also has some incredible resorts and accommodations that will only enhance your amazing trip to Barbados. In this guide, I will be diving into some of those amazing hotels in Barbados, so that you can find an accommodation that meets your travel style, budget, and has everything you need to ensure you have the best trip.

Introduction: Best Hotels in Barbados

If you are anything like me, the first thing you think about when you hear Barbados is amazing water and beaches, right? Well, you are 100% correct, but Barbados is known for SO MUCH MORE! Between everything there is to see and do in Barbados (Carlisle Bay, Harrison’s Cove, the list goes on), Barbados also has some of the most amazing hotels and resorts that I have ever stayed at.

Throughout this guide, I will be sharing all of the best hotels in Barbados and insider tips, so that you can find the right hotel in Barbados that fits your vibe and your wallet. Now, let’s get into it!

Luxury Hotels in Barbados

If there is one thing that Barbados did right (and don’t get me wrong, there are several things), it is for their luxury hotel scene. Barbados has some of the most luxurious and upscale hotels that I’ve ever stayed at, with incredible dining and impeccable service.

Sandy Lane Barbados

One of the most iconic and upscale resorts in all of Barbados is the Sandy Lane. This luxury resort sits on the beach, near the turquoise waters within an ancient mahogany grove. With gourmet dining, a golf course, stunning spa, and endless hospitality, this is a great option for honeymooners and couples looking for elegance, sophistication, and exquisite service and hospitality.

One of my favorite trips to Barbados was at this resort. I honestly never left the resort the entire trip. Between my amazing spa day, and spending time on the beach with 3 books, I had no reason to leave.

The rooms are equally impeccable. You have your option of suites or villas, and you honestly can’t go wrong with either option. This resort will make you feel right at home, and you will 100% become a regular visitor to the island and to the Sandy Lane hotel.

Fairmont Royal Pavilion

Another great upscale resort option is the Fairmont Royal Pavilion. This luxury resort sits directly on Barbados’ famous white sand beach, that you literally just walk out to. Staying here includes an amazing breakfast, they have 3 onsite restaurants, and the food, the views, and the service are all top-notch.

This hotel also has oceanfront suites and villas depending on your budget, but honestly, both options are amazing. You have sea views for days, and this is the perfect hotel for those looking for a beachfront luxury vacation.

Coral Reef Club

Another one of my favorite resorts was the Coral Reef Club. Staying here, with the pristine gardens, the private beach, and all of the loungers, was really my ultimate and complete relaxation getaway. The spa was spectacular, and I highly recommend their Swedish massage, the staff were warm and welcoming, and the onsite restaurant serves incredible cuisine with the best coastal views.

The rooms here felt like I was in a little cottage, which I found super cute and quaint, but the star of the show is the hotel grounds and their beach. I felt like I was in secluded part of the island and just enjoyed every peaceful moment this resort offered me.

Cobblers Cove

This cute adults-only boutique style resort is what I call a hidden gem. The personalized touches at the Cobblers Cove are not like anything I have ever experienced. Between the complimentary sorbet and the cold lavender towels by the pool, this hotel has thought of it all.

Breakfast is included at this resort, and the restaurant onsite is spectacular. I of course had a spa day while I was here, and the Sea Moon Spa offered probably the best deep tissue massage that I have ever had.

This secluded property is one of a kind, mixing charm with luxury, making it a great choice for honeymooners, couples celebrating an anniversary, or just looking for a luxurious and romantic getaway.

All Inclusive Resorts in Barbados

Sometimes when I travel to the Caribbean, I literally want to do nothing except lay on the beach, get some sun, and read as manay books as I possibly can. When this is the kind of vacation I need, I head to Barbados and stay in one of their incredible all-inclsuive resorts.

Sandals Royal Barbados

Honestly, Sandals is probably my favorite resort brand in the Caribbean. This adult-only all-inclusive resort sits on the beautiful Maxwell Beach and is one of Barbados’ most popular resorts (and if you’ve stayed here, you know why).

Sandals Royal Barbados is one of the most beautiful properties, literally on the beach, and with nine restaurants, eight outdoor pools (one of which is an infinity rooftop pool), and an amazing full-service spa, you never have to leave this resort.

This hotel is perfect for couples celebrating their honeymoon or anniversary, or who just need a romantic getaway. The rooms are spacious, the property is immaculate, and a perfect romantic getaway.

The O2 Beach Club & Spa

If a boutique-style resort is more your vibe, then you will love The O2 Beach Club & Spa. What I loved most about this resort is that the focus was on food (which if you’ve read any of my other blogs, you know I am a huge foodie), and culture, which I also love to immerse myself in.

This family-friendly all-inclusive resort offers large spacious rooms for families, has three outdoor pools, is located right on the beach in the St. Lawrence Gap area, and offers amazing food at a luxury resort, without feeling like you are at a larger resort, where sometimes you may feel “lost” in the crowds.

This is another great resort, where you don’t have to leave, if you don’t want to, you can enjoy the beach or one of the four onsite restaurants and absolutely get a massage. I opted for the deep tissue, and it was by far the best!

Waves Hotel & Spa

If you are coming to Barbados, because you are wanting a more laid-back, wellness kind of experience, then the Waves Hotel & Spa is a perfect hotel in Barbados for you! This all-inclusive resort sits right on the beach, and offers activities like yoga and Pilates, that you can do right on the beach.

This is a great option for couples or solo travelers looking for relaxation and wellness. The hotel has two outdoor pools, and amazing spa onsite, with tons of options, and is the perfect place to relax and focus on you!

Cheap Hotels in Barbados

For all of my travels on a budget, I have stayed at a few cheap hotels in Barbados that won’t break the bank and your travel budget.

Butterfly Beach Hotel

One of my favorite budget-friendly hotels in Barbados is the Butterfly Beach Hotel. This hotel is in Christ Church, and is located right on the beach, with direct access to the sand and sea!

Besides being right on the beach, this hotel has an onsite restaurant, which I thought was great, two outdoor pools, and comfortable rooms. Now, the rooms are a bit dated, and do need some updates, but they are comfortable and have great views of the ocean or pool.

This hotel is a great option for solo travelers, or travelers on a budget, and want to visit Barbados, without breaking the bank.

Guesthouses & Small Inns

Throughout Barbados, specifically in Christ Church and St. Lawrence Gap, there are lots of options for inns and small guesthouses if you are on a travel budget and want more of a local type feel for your trip.

Both areas have great access to beaches, restaurants, things to do, etc., and are great for solo travelers and those who want to explore all day and just need a cozy room to sleep in at night.

Airbnb or Apartments

Another great option if you are on a budget, or maybe if you are traveling with a group and want more space, is a vacation rental. These are typically great value for those on a budget, and you can save money by cooking at home and enjoying the comforts of the vacation rental, versus a crowded resort.

Practical Tips for Choosing Hotels in Barbados

Regardless of your budget or the resort you choose, you will be guaranteed to have an amazing trip to the beautiful island of Barbados. Choosing a hotel or accommodation that meets your budget and travel style will absolutely enhance your Barbados experience.

The west cost or Platinum Coast is known for calm waters that are perfect for snorkeling and swimming and are also where most of the luxury resorts in Barbados are located.

The south coast offers a vibrant nightlife, lots of local restaurants, and is a more budget-friendly part of the island.

Bridgetown offers visitors more of a history and cultural experience, and you are close to markets, and some of the iconic sites on the island.

Pro Tip: Unless you are staying in an all-inclusive, more resorts do not include meals, so please plan accordingly and include that in your travel budget.

Conclusion: Hotels in Barbados

Although Barbados is a smaller island, there are numerous resorts to choose from, catering to every budget and traveler type. From luxury resorts to budget-friendly accommodations, there is a place for everyone on the island. For me, I choose my accommodations based on what I want to see and do, and based on the kind of trip I want to have. Whether I want to explore everything there is to see and do in Barbados or lounge on the beach for a week reading five books, there is an accommodation to suit all of these travel styles.

I hope this guide has helped with your Barbados travel planning. I would love to help you plan your next trip, to make it as memorable as my trips to Barbados have been.
