Whether this is your first trip to Amsterdam or your 10th, you will quickly realize that Amsterdam’s dining scene is just as diverse as its neighborhoods and hotels. In this guide, I have hand selected all of the best restauranrts in Amsterdam that fits your budget and style. Now, let’s dive in!

Budget Restaurants in Amsterdam

If you are traveling to Amsterdam on a budget, you have plenty of budget-friendly restaurants in Amsterdam to choose from. Here are some of my favorite budget restaurants in Amsterdam for you to add to your itinerary.

Foodhallen (Oud-West)

If you are looking for one of the best places to grab lunch, then I would highly recommend Foodahllen. This indoor food court has every option and every kind of cuisine imageable. You could honestly eat here every day on your trip and never have the same meal twice. From Vietnamese, to Mexican, to seafood, and every in between, this food hall has it all.

My personal favorites were The Noodle Shop, Holy Fried Chicken, and Mt. Temaki. This was a great lunch spot for me as a solo traveler, because the vibe was energetic, social, and it was the perfect place for me to connect with other solo travelers, without sitting in a restaurant.

All of the options in this food hall are very budget friendly, and prices range anywhere on average from 6-15 Euros.

Winkel 43 (Jordaan)

This super cute restaurant is located in one of my favorite neighborhoods in Amsterdam, Jordaan. Winkel 43 is a great option for breakfast or lunch, particularly in the spring or summer when the weather is perfect and you can sit out on the sunniest terraces in all Amsterdam.

Winkel 43 is known for their apple pie, so if you go, you have to try a slice. I enjoyed a cup of coffee and a slice of apple pie as a mid-morning snack when I needed a break from my sightseeing.

Albert Cuypmarkt (De Pijp)

If you are looking for a local favorite, then you must add Albert Cuypmarket to your itinerary. This is one of the oldest markets around, is one of the largest markets in Europe, and it’s located in one of Amsterdam’s most popular areas.

My 3 must try’s if you come to the market: stroopwafel, resh herring, and a poffertjes. You absolutely will not leave your visit to this market hungry, and it’s the perfect place to indulge and try lots of local dishes. The market is open 6 days a week, so make sure you add this stop to your Amsterdam itinerary.

Mid-Range & Everyday Restaurants in Amsterdam

If you r vibe is more moderately priced, everyday kind of restaurants, then Amsterdam has tons of great options full of amazing food with a great atmosphere.

Little Collins (De Pijp)

If you are anything like me and love a good weekend brunch option, then Little Collins is the spot for you. This is a cozy and energetic option for a great Sunday brunch. I think one of the best aspects of this restaurant is that the menu options change with the seasons, so you never know what will be on teh menu.

One of my favorite menu items was a delicious egg and avocado toast combo. It was cooked to perfect and the kind of meal that leaves a lasting memory. It was the perfect Sunday brunch, and it was in the summer, so we were able to sit outside and enjoy the weather and some great people watching.

Café Binnenvisser (West Amsterdam)

Weirdly enough, when it comes to Cafe Binnenvisser, I actually walked right into it. I had never heard of it but instantly fell in love with how intimate the restaurant was and what attracted me to it initially was that it was filled with locals, which to me, is always the best sign of an amazing restaurant.

They too have a seasonal menu, but they are small plates, so it’s the best opportunity to get a few different things to try. I highly recommend the mixed mushrooms, the zucchini soup, and of course the cholate mouse.

Hotel Die Port van Cleve (City Center)

One of my favorite hotels in Amsterdam, the Hotel Die Port van Cleve, ironically also has amazing restaurant, serving up some of the best Dutch food, with a nice flare. The restaurant is called De Poort, and I have to say they have one of the best, if not THE best steak menus in all of Amsterdam.

The vibe in the restaurant is elegant, but comfortable, and the perfect place to grab lunch or dinner, and enjoy the amazing Dutch hospitality, that I absolutely love.

De Kas (Watergraafsmeer)

IF you are a looking for a fun experience and fresh and amazing food, then De Kas is the spot for you. This farm-to-table restaurant is literally in a greenhouse, with everything on the menu being grown and locally sourced.

This is a great spot to have lunch, especially when you need a little escape from the busy city center. I literally felt like I was in the middle of the country. It’s a little bit proicey for lunch, but honestly, between the expereince, and the fresh and local menu options, it’s 100% worth every penny.

Fine Dining in Amsterdam

If you are looking to treat yourself to a Michelin-starred restaurant or just looking for upscale dinning, then Amsterdam has a few great options that you may want to add to your dining itinerary.

Ciel Bleu (Hotel Okura)

One of the best restaurants in Amsterdam that has probably the best view of the city is the Michelin-starred restaurant, Ciel Bleu, located on the 23rd floor of Hotel Okura. The service here is top-notch and the food presentation is literally a work of art. Yes, this restaurant is pricey, but worth every penny.

If you are celebrating something special like a birthday or honeymoon, Ciel Bleu is the only choice when it comes to a memorable dining experience. Between the spectacular views and incredible meal, you will have the most memorable experience dinning here.

Vinkeles (The Dylan Hotel)

If you love French food like I do, then you will absolutely want to try Vinkeles, located at The Dylan Hotel. This romantic and upscale restaurant has amazing canal views, a romantic vibe, and a seasonal menu that is ideal for a special night out or if you are wanting to splurge on some amazing modern French cuisine.
