Introduction: Best Time to Visit Paris
When clients or friends and family ask me when the best time to visit Paris is, I tell them that there is honestly no wrong time to visit. Regardless of the time of year you visit Paris, it will always be a magical experience.
In this guide, I will be walking you through all of the seasons of Paris, things to do, so that you can decided what season of Paris is the right season for you to visit. So, grab your croissant and hot chocolate, and let’s dive into all things Paris.
Spring in Paris: My Personal Favorite Time of Year
For me, visiting Paris in the spring is literally a dream come true. The flowers are starting to bloom, the city comes back to life, the outdoor cafes (which are always my favorite) are open to the outside, and it is just an enjoyable time of year to be in Paris.
Visiting in the spring also allows me to literally “pause” and slow down. I am in no rush; I am enjoying the outdoors, the gardens, and really everything that Paris has to offer in the spring.
I came to Paris in the spring, like I visit most cities, as a solo traveler, ready to explore and get lost in the city. And even though Paris is alive, it’s not overwhelmingly busy with tourists, like it can be in the summer. I enjoyed some of my favorite cafes, like Cafe de Flor and Carette, and just enjoyed sitting outside and people watching, and literally, pausing.
Depending on when you visit in the spring, you may notice it gets busier. Particularly in late spring. I personally love visiting in mid-April. You get to experience the movement from inside to outside, but interact with more local Parisians than tourists.
If you are looking for a season that brings you outdoors, or enjoy a fun day trip to Versailles, have fewer tourists, and just be in Paris during an enjoyable time of year, then visiting Paris in the spring may be the best season for you to visit Paris.
Summer in Paris: Beautiful, Busy, and Full of Energy
If you are looking for a time of year that is full of energy, excitement, and long days, then visiting Paris in the summer may be the season for you. Everywhere you look, you’ll see locals and tourists outside, enjoying the outdoors, and taking in every moment.
The downside to visiting in the summer is that there are a lot of tourists, which also brings out a lot of pickpockets. Particularly around busy attractions, like the Eiffel Tower and the Louvre Museum.
I remember my first trip to Paris was in June, and I remember being at the Eiffel Tower and struggling to get a perfect picture, which didn’t have a million people in it. Being in Paris in the summer can be fun and exciting, but at the same time, you need to be very aware of your belongings and surroundings.
One of the best aspects of visiting Paris in the summer is that it truly feels like the city that never sleeps. With the long days, late dinners, and the energetic vibe of the season, you absolutely cannot go wrong with visiting Paris in the summer.
Fall in Paris: The Best Kept Season
In my opinion, the best kept season for visiting Paris is absolutely the fall. Visiting Paris in the fall feels like a hidden secret for so many reasons. This time of year, you will notice the leaves changing, the air turning crisp, and the chill in the air that makes you feel cozy.
Visiting Paris in the fall is also when I feel like the city slows down, which actually allowed me to slow down as well. I was able to stop and smell the espresso and fall weather, without feeling rushed, like I typically feel in some of the other warmer seasons.
This time of year is also when the crowds thin out, so capturing those perfect pictures or visiting your favorite cafe means fewer tourists and fewer lines, which I am so here for. I didn’t have to rush from one attraction or museum to another, and I felt like I could actually check out my favorite cafes and enjoy the moment, the weather, and just the fact that I was in Paris!

Winter in Paris: Cold, Cozy, and Underrated
Visiting Paris in the winter may be one of the most underrated times to visit the city. Even though it’s chilly and a bit darker due to the shorter days, there is still something magical about visiting Paris in the winter. Particularly near the holidays.
Paris in the winter just feels like a slower change of pace. Fewer lines and crowds compared to other seasons, you can actually sit inside your favorite cozy cafe and enjoy your croissant and coffee, without rushing. It really just allows you to savor and fully experience all the things we love about Paris.
As a solo traveler, I found this time to be surprisingly peaceful. It gave me a chance to experience Paris in a more intimate way, early mornings, cozy cafés, and evenings that ended a little earlier but felt just as fulfilling.
It may not be the most popular time to go, but for the right traveler, it might be exactly what you’re looking for.
So… What Is the Best Time to Visit Paris?
No matter how many times I get asked, my answer is always the same: “Every season is the best time of year to visit Paris.”
The season depends 100% on you, the type of trip you want to have, your budget, etc. I love visiting in the spring and fall. These two seasons allow me to enjoy the outdoors, slow down a bit, and usually have fewer tourists compared to visiting in the summer.
For me personally, the best time to visit Paris is that window between late spring and early fall, when the city feels alive but still allows you to breathe.
Conclusion: Best Time to Visit Paris
Paris will meet you differently depending on when you arrive. And that’s what makes it so special. It’s not just about checking off landmarks or getting the perfect photo; it’s about how the city makes you feel in those quiet, in-between moments. The ones where you’re sitting alone at a café, walking along the river, or getting lost on a street you didn’t plan to find. Those are the moments that stay with you.
So when you’re deciding on the best time to visit Paris, don’t just think about the weather or the crowds. Think about the experience you want to have. Because no matter when you go, Paris has a way of giving you exactly what you didn’t even know you needed.
