I had the pleasure of staying at the Aloft Anchorage hotel in Anchorage on my most recent trip to Alaska. My personal preferences when it comes to hotels is, comfortable, safe, modern, and in a walkable area. In this blog post I will share my experiences from my stay at the Aloft Anchorage hotel and some tips to ensure your stay is equally as comfortable. Now, let’s dive in!

Introduction: Aloft Anchorage

If you are planning a trip to Anchorage, then picking the right accommodations can ensure you have an even better experience. If I had to describe Aloft Anchorage in one word, it would be modern. This hotel is conveniently located in Midtown and has great accessibility to attractions, dining, and shops. In this guide, I will review all of the aspects of my stay, the room, service, etc., which I hope helps you deiced if Alot is the hotel for you for your Alaska trip!

Room Comfort and Amenities

When I got to the room, I was surprised at how modern and contemporary it actually was. I had a king size bed, that was incredibly comfortable, and the room was actually pretty spacious. The room I had also have a very open concept, so the bathroom, which was behind the bedroom, was open and there was no door. If you prefer to not have an open room/bathroom concept, please let the front desk know and they can get you into a room that has separate between the bedroom and bathroom.

Pro Tip: If you are staying with friends or family and want to ensure the bathroom has a door, please request that type of room at check-in

One of my most favorite features of the hotel room was the face that there was not a shortage of USB and charging ports. We came with laptops, phones, and iPads, so having adequate charging stations was critical. The other nice feature was the fridge that we had in the room. We were able to reheat leftovers, which was a great cost-savings for us! The windows in the room were enormous, and since we were there in the summer, we were happy to see black out curtains, since the sun really didn’t set much at all.

The one thing to note about the room and hotel is that it is not at all rustic. So, if you are coming to Alaska and you want more of the cabin and rustic vibe, then this hotel would not be the best choice for you.

Aloft Anchorage: Dining Options

One of my favorite aspects of traveling is trying new foods and ensuring that I have options that are accessible. One of the best aspects of the Aloft was their grab and go setup, Re:fuel, because it allowed us to quick grab food to go in order for us to make the best use of our sightseeing time. It was quick and easy and was the perfect way to start off our adventurous mornings. Disclaimer: the coffee is strong, so be prepared.

The only con to the dining situation is that there is not a full-service restaurant on the property. They do have a full-service bar, and the Re:fuel grab and go option, but not a sit down, full-service restaurant. However, there are walkable options that are very accessible in the area.

Facilities and Services

When I am traveling, I try to make sure all of my hotel choices have a fitness center on property so that I can work out while I am away. The fitness center at Aloft was extremely clean, well-lit, had new equipment, and it was never busy! I loved being able to start my day on the treadmill, which was conveniently located in front of a window, to help off-set all of the food I was and planned to continue to consume on my trip.

At the end of our day, we enjoyed the indoor pool, which was heated, and felt amazing after a long day of walking, hiking, and exploring. A great fitness center and heated pool are just great touches to a hotel both were great to use and just enhanced my stay at the hotel.

Another great aspect of this hotel was how welcoming and friendly the front desk staff were. They answered my questions, gave me directions for restaurants that were nearby, and you could just tell that they were genuinely happy to help.

Aloft Anchorage Location and Accessibility

Other than cost, the second most important aspect of a hotel for me is location, location, location! Especially being in an unfamiliar city, the more centrally located a hotel is so that I can walk to things, the better. Even though Aloft wasn’t walkable to most attractions, it was a 10-15 min Uber ride, and once we were where we needed to be, we stayed out until we were ready to head back to the hotel.

What is in walking distance of the hotel was several restaurants and grocery stores, which was great for us to walk to dinner, grab coffee, and have some snacks in the room. Being able to walk to things, and enjoy that crisp Alaskan air, there was nothing like it!

Conclusion: Aloft Anchorage

Reflecting on my stat at Aloft Anchorage I am reminded of how much I thoroughly staying there. I love a modern hotel with lots of great amenties, and located to many things that I can walk to, or that is a quick Uber ride.

If you are in the planning process of your Alaska trip, or thinking about a trip, then I would highly recommend this hotel if modern conveniences and a great location are important to you. When I return to Anchorage (and I absolutely will), then I would absolutely stay at this hotel again.
