When I first started planning my solo trip to Asia, I added Singapore to my itinerary last minute. I didn’t know much about Singapore, and honestly, I didn’t even have time to research it. My boss gave me the recommendation since she had been there, loved it, and that her brother-in-law lives there, and also loves it. That day, I added it on, decided 4 days was a long enough per her recommendation, and booked my flights. In this post, I will dive into my Singapore itinerary, things I loved, things I would do differently, and basically everything you need to know for your trip.

Now let’s dive in!

Introduction: Singapore Itinerary

If you are planning a trip to southeast Asia, then Singapore is a great country to add on to your itinerary. This 4-day Singapore itinerary will go through everything I did on my solo trip to Singapore and honestly, 4 days is the perfect amount of time. This blog post will review everything I loved (spoiler alert: the food for sure) and things I would recommend skipping. Now, let’s dive into this Singapore itinerary and review everything you need to plan to do on your trip!

Day 1: Marina Bay Sands: First Impressions

I started my trip at the Marina Bay Sands SkyPark as I was staying at the Marina Bay Sands Hotel (highly recommend). I flew in that afternoon, so I immediately checked in, went to my enormous room, and just stood in front of the floor to ceiling windows in awe of the incredible views (and this was during the day).

After I was settled, I walked over to the Gardens by the Bay as it was getting dark and I can only describe the Gardens by the Bay in one word – Magical! The Supertree Grove was absolutely incredible, and it felt like I was walking into a futuristic sci-fi movie.

I was also able to catch the Spectra Light Show this evening and sitting by the water watching the lights dance on Marina Bay was honestly the perfect end to my first day/night into Singapore

Pro Tip: If you book a room at the Marina Bay Sands Hotel, as for the bay view and you can see this light show every night!

Day 2: Future and Culture to the Max

Ok, so there is nothing better in Singapore than the food. OMG! I can’t even begin to explain how not only amazing the food is, but also how inexpensive it is. The food in Singapore is multi-cultural and full of amazing flavors and spices. I could not get enough!

I started my second day in Singapore with a city bike tour, which if you aren’t used to humidity, and the desert girl is not, then you will end the ride soaking wet! Despite the humidity, it was a great way to see the city and explore areas like Chinatown and little India.

For lunch, I met up with my boss’s brother-in-law who lives there, and we went to an amazing Hawkeyer (Maxwell Food Centre) to have lunch. And when I mean lunch, I mean he grabbed like 10 items from 10 different vendors, and we shared. One word – unbelievable!!! He also gave me an incredible tour from a local’s perspective, which honestly, it doesn’t get better than a local personal tour guide.

After lunch we went to the Singapore Botanic Gardens, which was absolutely incredible, and his recommendation. There were so many different kinds of plants and flowers, and I honestly could’ve stayed there all day.

For the evening, I decided to do the Singapore Flier, which also had incredible views at night, and was in walking distance (relatively) to my hotel. I would’ve loved to grab dinner, but I ate so much for lunch, I couldn’t even begin to try and eat dinner. But it did cross my mind…more than once!

Day 3: Visit Sentosa Island

My third day in Singapore was all about Sentosa Island. I am a kid at heart, and love visiting theme parks and enjoying all of the rides. To get to Sentosa island you can take a cable car to and from, which is a fun experience all by itself.

I spent the entire day enjoying Universal Studios Singapore and walking around the stores and restaurants before you enter the theme park. All of the rides were great, and I literally never waited more than 10 mins for a ride (My favorite was the Transformer ride).

I didn’t have time to visit, but another fun spot to add to your itinerary would be a visit to the S.E.A Aquarium. I did some research on it, and it looks super peaceful, and just walking around and enjoying the colorful fish would be a great way to spend an afternoon or to take a break from Universal. Especially during a hot and humid day!

Pro Tip: If you are carrying a bag, some of the rides will require you to put your items into a free locker, which is super easy to manage.

Day 4: Poolside

I decided to spend my last day relaxing by the amazing rooftop infinity pool at the Marina Bay Sands Hotel. I went up early, had a very expensive breakfast in the hotel’s restaurant on the roof, and claimed my lounge chair for the day.

This was honestly the best way to end a busy, yet amazing trip. I was able to get some sun, take in the views, and enjoy the infinity pool that only hotel guests can enjoy. If you choose to stay at the Marina Bay Sands Hotel, which I 100% highly recommend, then pencil in one pool day and take advantage of a poolside recharge day, on the roof of one of the most iconic hotels in Singapore.

Conclusion: Singapore Itinerary

I can’t recommend Singapore enough. It’s amazing country, and you honestly don’t need a lot of time to explore and enjoy everything it has to offer. This 4-day Singapore Itinerary was the perfect amount of time and such a great add on country to a southeast Asia trip.
